Butler Electric Gives YOU a Holiday Refund!
 

     I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving and are looking forward to the Christmas season. I hope you get to spend quality time with friends and family during this magical time of the year.

    We have some great news for Butler Electric members! As a cooperative, our objective is to run as efficiently as possible. I am happy to announce that you will see a holiday refund on your December bill. The Board of Trustees is excited that the cooperative can continue giving back to our members during the holiday season.

    Several factors made this refund possible. First, 25 percent of our membership conserved power use between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m. peak times, which lowers the cooperative’s power cost and provides members with immediate bill reductions. In addition, we installed a half megawatt generator to assist with peak shaving efforts.

    In December 2015, our Board of Trustees approved revenue neutral rates changes that adjust annually. On your January bill, you may notice a small increase in the customer charge, but you will see a decrease in the kWh charge. By doing this, we are able to track costs more accurately, as well as protect our members from extremely hot summers and cold winters.

    The co-op sta and Board of Trustees are in the process of preparing our 2017 budget and work plans. A lot of discussion has involved renewable generation options and continued right-of-way tree maintenance to reduce blinking and increase reliability. Work plans are developed and focused around our number one priority—you!
