Celebrating the Cooperative’s Achievements
Butler Electric Cooperative members, employees and communities gathered on Aug. 11 to celebrate our recent office renovation with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony. It was great to see many familiar faces in attendance to commemorate the special day.
When the Board of Trustees approved the building renovation in December 2015, the facility suffered from heating and cooling issues as well as a settling foundation. After extensive evaluation, repair costs proved to be uneconomical. Butler Electric continues to see growth, and the building updates will accommodate our cooperative’s future growth.
The renovated facility is 9,500 square feet and was designed with efficiency at the fore front. LED lighting and an upgraded heating and cooling system was installed, as well as more productive employee work spaces. With unpredictable Kansas weather, the lineman’s room serves as a tornado shelter. We also took the extra measure of securing stored materials with the installation of an electric gate. In the front of our building, we installed 4kW solar panels.
These panels have been a valuable educational tool for members who have questions regarding renewable distribution.
Needless to say, we are very excited about our updates and the future of Butler Electric!

Brown Retires After 36 Years
On behalf of Butler Electric, I would like to congratulate Metering Technician DANNY BROWN on his retirement on Aug. 14. Brown’s career started at Butler Electric in 1981 as an apprentice lineman.
His inquisitive nature and patience eventually lead him to working on the metering side of the cooperative. Brown always kept things lively and was even known to pull a prank or two! Butler Electric appreciates his loyalty and hard work through the many years he served. Best wishes to Danny in his retirement!
